President John Dramani Mahama has relieved the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Mr. Vincent Kuagbenu of his post.
A statement signed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah said Mr. Kuagbenu has been asked to handover to his successor latest by Tuesday, December 8, 2015.
“H.E. the President has identified Mr. Kobina Beecham, whose curriculum vitae is attached hereto, to be considered for appointment as the chief Executive of Youth Employment Agency,” the statement dated November 27, 2015 noted.
Mr. Kuagbenu has been asked to return to the presidency with immediate effect.
Prior to his appointment at YEA, Mr. Kuagbenu was assigned responsibility in the Office of the President to coordinate the rationalization and re-registration of Government vehicles.
It is not clear whether his dismissal was occasioned by his refusal to elevate Mr. Jacob Atule Adongo from the Director of Disability and Gender Unit to deputy chief executive of the agency.
Mr. Kuagbenu blatantly disregarded President Mahama’s orders to elevate Mr. Adongo to the position of a Deputy CEO of the agency on 9th September, 2015.
He is reported to have also refused to fix some 14 People with Disabilities (PWDs) who were interviewed for employment positions claiming that they were incompetent and could not work with them.
Mr. Kuagbenu, a then former National Service Secretariat (NSS) boss, came under public criticisms when he unilaterally decided to introduce road traffic management as a module into the national service scheme to enable service personnel to complement the police in managing the situation in the country.
