The leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has asked Ghanaians not to be swayed by the arrival of the 225 megawatts power barge from Turkey, to think that a huge chunk of the power crisis has been solved.

Dumsor is a serious problem that needs serious, concerted technical and financial solutions and management. The hype surrounding the arrival of the Karpower barge must not become an attention-grabbing, media circus, music and dance celebrations.

Dr Nduom said Ghanaians should be concerned about the monies they would be made to pay to fuel the barge.

He said although when hooked onto the national grid, the power generated by this barge will help and that will be a good thing, but a lot of work remains to be done, including the determination of how much the consumers will pay for the power to be produced by the barge.

Dr Nduom admonished the Minister of Power, the President and the NDC Administration to know that Ghanaians have suffered losses due to dumsor, some of which cannot and will not be erased. These losses are etched in the memories of industrialists, families and many, many others and these wounds must not be bruised by the President, the Power Minister or the NDC.

He advised them to go and sit behind closed doors, finalise the money and the technical resources to get the barge working continuously and move on to solve the other related power problems that exist and stop indulging in unnecessary politics.

Meanwhile the Executives of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Komenda Edina Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Constituency of the Central Region, have taken issues with PPP Flagbearer Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, over his comments on the barge and some other issues that disagreed with President Mahama.

The NDC executives in a statement said the comment made by the former KEEA MP and thriving entrepreneur, suggests he is envious of President Mahama’s status.

According to them, having followed Dr. Nduom and his utterances for some time now, the conclusion is that Dr. Nduom envies the President, John Dramani Mahama and wishes he were the one being called the president.

The KEEA Constituency Executives also believe that other attempts by Dr. Nduom to insinuate that President John Mahama was not given to Ghanaians by God is a move to doubt the fact that God reigns in the affairs of Ghanaians.
