The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), is urging its supporters to support the leadership today [Friday] at its headquarters as it protests over a recent raid at the premises.
“Members, sympathizers, executives, MP’s and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party will gather at the party headquarters to speak to the outrageous , orchestrated Monday dawn raid of the same head office by enemies of democracy under the worrying guise of the State” a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Communications of the NPP, Perry Okudzeto indicated.
“We call upon all Ghanaians who believe in, and want to protect our democracy, to express their outrage boldly by joining in marking #RedFriday by wearing red, or black with red armbands. An attack on the opposition is an attack on democracy. Show solidarity. Wear #RedFriday,”the statement noted.
It would be recalled that some persons dressed in military uniform, were led by others in plain clothes to carry out the act.
Items taken away from the office include the hard disk of the computer used by the party’s Director of Elections, Martin Adjei Korsah-Mensah.
Police officers have since the incident been on high alert at the premises of the party as investigations are underway.
The NPP believes some powerful people may have masterminded the incident.
