A group calling itself Mass Action for Development (MAFOD) has charged the level headed personalities in the National Democratic Congress to bring President John Dramani Mahama to order. The group believes President Mahama is gradually making Ghana a laughing stock in the view of other nations by his irresponsible and awful statement in recent time. “We appeal to the level headed personalities in the NDC to bring the President to order. This is because he is disgracing the nation.” This was contained in a statement the group issued and Signed by convener, Kingsley Ofosu Ntiamoah, Director of Operations; Ike Apaw Gyasi, Director of Communication; Buckman Akuffo and Executive Secretary Appiah Louis. The statement was a response to comments made by President Mahama during a rally at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra. President Mahama questioned the competence of the vice presidential candidate of NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the party’s communicators, who continually label his administration as incompetent. “You still hear Bawumia say incompetent Mahama. You’ve never held any responsibility near the presidency before; you don’t know what it is like to be President. I will take that from Kufuor or from Rawlings because they’ve been there before. All of you guys [NPP critics] have never ever come near the presidency. [Do] you know what it takes to be a President? And you stand and say ‘incompetent Mahama administration.” The statement noted that attempt by President Mahama to silence Dr. Bawumia and millions of Ghanaians who have not been presidents before to stop calling him incompetence is like advising the Pope not to talk about marriage matters of his congregants. It added that, MAFOD finds the response of President Mahama to Dr Bawumia’s criticism of his administration and a harmless suggestion to redeem Ghana from the current economic challenges was very irresponsible and a proof of an incompetent leader. “It is shocking for the President to conclude that if you have not been president, you are not fit to comment on the performance of a President,” the statement quizzed. “Was Mr. Mahama in this country when the General Secretary of NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called ex-President Rawlings a backing-dog? Or is the President trying to divert Ghanaians’ attention from the hollow budget presented last Thursday,’’ the statement quizzed. “It is worthy to note that since President Mahama assumed the reigns of the Presidency, Ghana has turned into a state where leaders force citizens to admit that standards of living have improved. It is reprehensible the attitude of our President and his appointees in respect to the governance of Ghana. In particular, their intolerable attitude towards sound and level headed criticisms from fellow Ghanaians.” The statement called on Ghanaians to pray for Ghana and actively be involved in the fight to salvage Ghana from complete shutdown. “Pastors, Imams, students, workers and indeed everyone who has Ghana at heart should get involved in redeeming Ghana.” Source: Michael Creg Afful
