Armed Men Invade NPP Headquarters

The Acting Chairman of the NPP, Freddy Blay has asked the teeming supporters of the Party to stay resolute and firm in the wake of the invasion of the Party headquarters at Kokomlemle by an armed gang.
Mr Blay said the Party is waiting for the police report, but is in the meantime conducting its own internal investigations to unravel what really happened.
The Acting Chairman was addressing the pres today to allay the fears of the supporters who had thronged the party headquarters to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the invasion story.
The Police at Nima in Accra have confirmed a number of arrests after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters was raided at about 1am Monday.
DSP Felicia Ayensu in charge of the Nima Police Station, who confirmed the arrests to the press, would however not say how many people have been arrested. Party supporters who have gathered at premises speculated that the invaders were in military uniforms. A number of policemen have now been posted there and are keeping watch at the party office. They have cordoned off the street leading to the party office. A source at the party headquarters as many as 11 people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the unlawful night raid, which saw the invaders overpower the “Invisible Forces” security men at the party office and had them locked up and their phones taken from them.. The invaders are said to have carted some items in sacks from the offices during their operations and one of the party security men is also alleged to have been kidnapped. Journalists at the party headquarters were told that the police had asked a vice chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe, to leave the place after some men believed to be supporters of the party threatened to beat him up.
