The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate elect for the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Samuel Nartey George, has asked the outgoing MP, E.T Mensah to accept him as a son.

“I wish to use this opportunity to call on the incumbent Hon. ET Mensah to accept me as a son and realize that we are in one party.”

“There has been no victor and there has been no looser.”

Sam George as he is affectionately called said this after the Electoral Commission declared him winner during the NDC parliamentary primaries at the weekend.

He polled 4,910 votes while the Hon. ET Mensah who has been described as Ningo-Prampram “Mugabe” Ghana’s body politics polled 2,831 votes.

Mr. George said he is ready to work with “all the executives irrespective of whatever happened during the campaign.”

Sam George believes Hon. E.T. Mensah and his supporters should let go the vituperations and invectives they threw at each other during the campaign period and forge ahead of the 2016 general elections.

The conduct of Sam George and Hon. ET Mensah, who has held the seat since 1992 created tension in the area prompting heavy police and military presence on Saturday.

Sam George alleged that over 3,000 names of delegates have been deleted from the party’s register and replaced with new names, an allegation which the Greater Accra Regional NDC Organizer Anthony Nukpenu denied vehemently.

The Electoral Commission therefore postponed the election which was scheduled for Saturday to Sunday in view of the concerns raised by Sam George.

Speaking to Oman News, Sam George who had been described by ET Mensah as his ‘errand boy’ stressed the need for unity between the two sides ahead of the 2016 general elections.

“I and Hon ET Mensah together will deliver this seat for the NDC come 2016 and we will deliver it together for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
