Avram Grant in talks with Inaki Williams over nationality switch

Black Stars coach Avram Grant has held preliminary discussions with Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams over a possible nationality switch, Ghana FA communications director Saanie Daara has revealed. Williams, 21, has come through the ranks of the Basque club and has scored five goals in 25 La Liga appearances.

His performances and goal scoring record prompted Williams to be promoted to Bilbao’s first-team and has seen him feature in 25 La Liga matches, scoring 5 goals in the process.

"I can tell you for a fact that he [Williams] has been in contact with coach Avram Grant," Daara was quoted as saying by footy-Ghana.

"I dont know how far they've gone but I think they are at the preliminary stages."

"When players are about to make these decisions, they need a lot of thinking and time to consult families and things like that. So it will take time but were confident."

Williams is born to Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother.
