Catholic Bishop's Conference calls for new register

The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference has challenged the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters register if allegations that the register is bloated with names of foreign nationals is established. The statement signed by the president of the Ghana catholic Bishop's conference, Most Rev. Joseph Osei Bonsu, states that allegations of over 76,000 names of person's from neighbouring countries discovered in the current register must be investigatives are found to be true. It said if this and other allegations are found to be true, it will be neccessary to have a new voters register to enable people have confidence in the electional process. The conference also encouraged the EC to ensure that no one within the voting age is disenfranchild while calling on governent to provide the EC with the ecessary logicstics and resources to enhance their work.
